Tempe, Arizona to Pecos, Texas
641 Miles (2786 Miles Total) Sunny - 98F
along
I-10, Eastern Arizona
Today featured... you guessed it,
more desert! After seeing dozens of billboards, we stopped in Texas
Canyon to see "The Thing" but didn't actually pay to see
the Thing, so what exactly the thing is still remains a mystery.
We're assuming it isn't a VW but we did pass an old VW pick-up on
I-10.
Yikes!...

We continued across New Mexico and
into Texas via El Paso. Amazingly, thanks to some weird jogs in
the time zones and a lack of daylight savings in Arizona, we lost
two hours over the course of about 100 miles, and rolled into Pecos,
Texas two hours later than it seemed. I've never experienced a two-hour
"jet-lag" on a road trip before. Pecos was all but rolled
up for the night so we had to eat at the Flying J truck stop (it
was either that or Pizza Hut or Sonic but since we had pizza the
night before...). Pecos really needs a Denny's.
