07/13/03 Ready, Set, Go!

Fremont, Indiana to Forrest City, Arkansas    767 Miles (4063 Miles Total)     Sunny - 85F

Spacepods, Wapakoneta, Ohio

Wow... a 767-mile day. That's a new record for me. The only major stop was in Wapakoneta, Ohio, home of Neil Armstrong, the first human to set foot on the Moon. It's amazing to think that 1960s spacecraft were not much bigger than a New Beetle. Today's route headed south into Ohio, through Dayton and Cincinnati on I-75. Crossing into Kentucky, I zipped down I-71 to Louisville before crossing the state on the Western Kentucky and Purchase Parkways; a very rural a tree-lined drive. After crossing the Mississppi River on I-155, I headed south towards memphis and caught the tail end of a very windy thrunderstorm. Since I didn't want to venture into Memphis at night to look for a hotel I headed west on I-40 to Forrest City, Arkansas to Subway, a Hampton Inn and some much needed rest.
